Theft suspect accused of preying on elderly women

EASTLAKE, OH (WOIO) -

A theft suspect accused of preying on elderly women is now behind bars.

Michael Sailes, 54, was arrested by Eastlake police and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Sailes is accused of diverting the attention of elderly female shoppers (70's - 80's) while one of his two accomplices would steal her wallet, credit cards and/or checkbook.

The crimes happened in Eastlake on June 12 and 16 and also on July 22 by the same three suspects.

Sailes is charged with three counts of felony theft, one misdemeanor count of misuse of credit card and two additional misdemeanor counts of theft. He also has a felony warrant issued by another agency. He is currently being held at the Lake County Jail.

The accomplices are being actively sought with arrests forthcoming.
