CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The 17-year-old boy accused in the beating of a man outside a gay bar during Labor Day weekend, pled not guilty at his hearing in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Wednesday morning.

The Magistrate ordered the teen to stay at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention facility.

Jared Fox was attacked by a large group of boys as he walked to Cocktails club at West 92nd and Detroit in Cleveland.

Fox says he was stomped and kicked and he ended up with an eye swollen shut, a ruptured eardrum and other injuries.

Fox says the crowd specifically shouted slurs at him since the bar he was headed to is known for attracting gays.

Fox says he is still living in fear, "I had to walk with my phone with 911 dialed and my finger was still hovering over the call button, I was still afraid."

Another juvenile had been arrested days later for throwing rocks at people at the gay bar.
