CANTON, OH (WOIO) -
The man accused of murdering a World War II veteran pled not guilty in Canton Muni Court Friday morning.

Chester Ray Crank, 33, is charged with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary. The bond is set at $5 million.

Canton Police say Crank murdered Bennie Angelo, 87, in January of 2007.

Angelo, who survived Pearl Harbor, was shot to death in his own home on Endrow Avenue.  The killer than set the house on fire. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set to conceal the crime.

Nearly a dozen of Angelo's family members were in court Friday. His daughter Becky tells 19 Action News "it is nice to see him (Crank) in handcuffs."
