The thing to do this weekend in Cincy

Posted: Updated:
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The first full weekend of fall is upon us.

I thoroughly expect everyone reading this to order a Pumpkin Spice Latte (or something of equal autumn value) and celebrate a great Cincinnati weekend!

The 12th annual Midpoint Music Festival is hitting a high note around town. The three-day event kicked off Thursday and continues through Saturday. If you're looking for new music, or simply just want to hear some live bands... Go. The main stage is at Washington Park and there are several other downtown and OTR venues. More here: http://mpmf.com

One time I was stuck in traffic on High Street in Columbus. Suddenly, zombies began stumbling past my car, peering into the windows and making those noises zombies are known for. I realized I was in the midst of a massive zombie apocalypse with nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.

The tradition continues this Saturday during the Cincinnati Zombie Walk. The family-friendly event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Freedom Center and ends at Fountain Square. But don't worry. These zombies are nice ones. The Cincy Zombie Walk currently partners with the Freestore Foodbank to raise awareness about hunger in the community.

Plus, it's free and there's a zombie after-party (always love a good after-party: http://www.cincinnatizombiewalk.com

Wiedemann's Newport Oktoberfest is happening with a massive, light-up ferris wheel called "The Wheel of Light." All German everything, if you missed out last weekend in Zinzinnati, this is you! It began Friday at 5 p.m. and runs through 9 p.m. Sunday. Check out www.oktoberfestnewport.com.

The Wayans Brothers will hit the Funny Bone Comedy Club stage at Newport on the Levee. Attendees must be 21 and up, with shows scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday. To this day 'White Chicks' is still one of my favorite movies (Yeah, I know...).

John Michael Montgomery fan? The Merchants & Music Festival is Saturday in Ft. Thomas. The outdoor festival is at Tower Park with a full day of country music acts and shopping with local vendors. Lyndsey Highlander sang her heart out on the FOX19 Morning News to promote the event! JMM is headlining. The event is free for everyone from 2-11:30 p.m. Details here - http://www.merchantsandmusic.com/

Looking to break a sweat? Good news for you, a Zumba class begins at 9 a.m. at Washington Park. Also, the annual Let's Move, Cincinnati! is at Smale Riverfront Park from 9 a.m. to noon. Both events are FREE. We love free.
