UC football player allegedly threatens officer with a laser

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A University of Cincinnati football player was arrested on Sunday morning after allegedly threatening a police officer with a laser pointer.

Officers say that Braxton Lane, 22, caused "serious public alarm" after a verbal dispute with an officer early Sunday morning.

A police report shows that Braxton claimed he would shoot an officer and proceeded to point a laser at the officer from a second story window at a party.

Police believed that Braxton possibly carried a firearm and arrested him. Lane was released from jail on 10 percent of a $15,000 bond. He is due in court on Monday, September 30 at 12:30 p.m.

The incident is the second time this year that Lane has been in trouble with authorities. In June, Lane was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Lane joined the UC Bearcats' football team in 2012 after playing three seasons of minor league baseball in the south, according to the official athletics website of the University of Cincinnati.

Lanes has not played in any games for the 2013-2014 season and has been suspended indefinitely from the team activities.
