CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The impasse over the federal budget continues as the Republican-run House has voted to avoid a partial government shutdown next week, but also delay President Obama's health care law.

The White House has promised that the legislation as written will be vetoed so the shutdown of many federal services could happen the morning of Tuesday, October 1.

Volunteers with a Washington based non-profit called Enroll America were at New Jerusalem Baptist Church to talk to people about the Affordable Health Care Act and why they should sign up.

Enroll America Volunteer Marjorie Moseley says the plan is good for the nation.

"We need to have a healthy America, we need to have a healthy Cincinnati and this is the opportunity for that to happen," said Moseley.

Moseley says she and other volunteers are praying for the uninsured. "In our community we believe in faith, faith is hope, faith is an opportunity to do things better. It's a change in our lives so why not come and pray for change, pray for hope, pray for wellness because our community needs it."

The Affordable Health Care Act has been a hot topic lately, but Enroll America's Trey Daley says many people still don't know how it works.

"Our main task is to inform people about the benefits and the process of getting enrolled in coverage and then also connecting them to resources in the community," said Daley.

In our commitment to balanced news FOX19 reached out to Hamilton County Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou to find out why the GOP is against the health care plan.

"We rely on the private sector to create jobs and to offer health care to their employees. Obamacare has made it so that private sector businesses don't want to offer health care any longer to their employees at the same level of benefits," said Triantafilou.

Triantafilou says Republicans have offered alternatives to Obamacare with reforms that Republicans have proposed that have been regularly shot down by the administration.
