Posted: Updated:
AVON, OH (WOIO) -

On Friday, the Avon Police Department, in cooperation with the Alcohol, and Drug Addiction Services Board of Lorain County and the STOP Task Force on Underage Drinking, conducted a check of local businesses for alcohol sales to underage persons.

An 18-year-old confidential informant provided by the STOP Task Force was used for the operation.

During the operation, attempts to purchase alcohol were made at seven retail establishments and one on premise establishment. Of the establishments checked, only one, Circle K on Chester Road, sold alcohol to the underage girl.

The clerk, a 25-year-old man from Avon Lake, was issued a citation for underage sales and will have to appear before Avon Mayor's Court
