CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Roxanne Qualls announced on Monday that Councilman Wendell Young, a Democrat, would be her Vice Mayor if elected on November 5th as Mayor.

"I am announcing the person who will serve as my Vice Mayor, if elected, now so voters know what kind of leadership to expect at City Hall," said Qualls. "I selected Wendell because he is a well respected leader who understands the challenges our city faces. We both have a history of working with others, building consensus to get things done. Together we will enact our Plan for Growing Cincinnati – growing the economy, investing in neighborhoods and a safe community."

Young is a former Cincinnati Police Officer, Aiken High School teacher, Air Force veteran, and city employee. He also served as President of the Sentinel Police Association and President of the Cincinnati Branch NAACP. He was appointed to City Council in 2010 and elected in 2011.

Young is an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and lives in North Avondale with his wife, Kathy.
