Former first round pick DeSagana Diop returns to Cleveland.
There will be a familiar face at Cavaliers training camp this season as their former first round pick DeSagana Diop returns to Cleveland to attempt to make the team. Diop was the 8th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft and played four seasons with the Cavaliers before continuing his career in Dallas, Toronto, New Jersey, and Charlotte.
The 31 year old Diop has not logged many minutes in recent years after tearing his achilles and suffering from knee problems in 2011 as member of the Bobcats. Diop has never averaged more than 2.3 points and 5 rebounds per game in a season.
Diop was approached last week by Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant as the team works to add depth in the paint while already banged up big men Andrew Bynum, Anthony Bennett, and Anderson Varejao, work to get back to 100 percent.
