CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Indians first postseason appearance in six years did not end how they would have liked, losing to Tampa Bay 4-0.

The Rays scored a run in the third on Delmon Young's solo home run off Tribe starter Danny Salazar. They followed that up in the fourth two more off the bat of Desmond Jennings' two out, two-run double.

The Indians had their best scoring chance of the night in the fourth inning when they had the bases loaded with one out. Asdrubal Cabrera grounded into a double play to kill the rally.

In the fifth, the Tribe had two on, with no out and also failed to score.

Then at the top of the ninth the Rays scored again, a Lonnie Chisenhall error in the inning contributed to it.

The top of the Indians batting order did not help their cause. Michael Bourn, Nick Swisher and Jason Kipnis combined to go 0-12. Meanwhile, the bottom of the order produced hits. Catcher Yan Gomes had two hits, Chisenhall had three. Carlos Santana also had a pair of hits.

Danny Salazar pitched four innings allowing three runs. Alex Cobb pitched 6.2 innings of shut out baseball, walking the tight wire in the 4th and 5th.

As the Indians hang up their cleats for the season -- Tampa Bay heads to Boston to take on the top-seeded American League East champion Red Sox in a best-of-five divisional series.
