CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

Police in Cleveland Heights are looking for the driver who struck a bicyclist and then fled the scene.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. Thursday, in the area of 2853 Fairmount Blvd.

When officers arrived on the scene the bicyclist struck was lying on the lawn with serious head and leg injuries.

Officers say her bike was struck from behind while she was in the curb lane and became trapped underneath the car.

The driver stopped but, then fled the scene dragging the victim a short distance.

The victim is at MetroHealth in stable condition.

No name being released at this time.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a 2005-2009 Buick Lacrosse, 4-door sedan, dark in color.

The vehicle will have damage to the right front bumper area, including damage to the right side turn signal lens.
