Monday night at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested fugitive Marvin Mitchell, 23.

Mitchell was wanted for aggravated robbery by the Lakewood Police Department, for escape by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, and for parole violation by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority.

It is alleged that on August 13, Mitchell was in Lakewood with three other males at which time they attempted to rob a high school student who was walking home. Mitchell allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money and his cell phone. When the victim refused, Mitchell beat him with the gun. The victim threw his cell phone to the ground.  Mitchell grabbed the phone and he and the other three males fled on bicycles.

The other three males were caught almost immediately, but Mitchell remained at large.  The NOVFTF was requested to assist with locating and apprehending Mitchell and he was profiled as the Fugitive of the Week Monday afternoon.  Tips began pouring in almost immediately and one text tip was the exact information the NOVFTF needed.

The text tip was received Monday evening and provided an address that Mitchell was hiding out at near the 900 block of E. 139th Street in Cleveland.  Task force officers responded immediately and set up surveillance around the home.  Officers saw a male fitting the description of Mitchell enter the home.  Task force members surrounded the home and began to call out the individuals in the residence.  Mitchell refused to come out and the task force entered the residence to arrest him.  Mitchell was found hiding in a crawl space under the front porch and arrested without incident.  During the search of the residence, the task force also located a stolen firearm in the basement not far from where Mitchell was found hiding.  The weapon was seized and is being investigated for use in any crimes.  Mitchell was transported to the Lakewood City Jail.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, "Once again a concerned citizen stepped forward to help justice prevail.  The partnership we have with the people in this community to bring justice to the forefront tightens the bond that holds our cities together."
