Meth lab explosion in Barberton

BARBERTON, OH (WOIO) -

Barberton Police are looking for a suspect that is accused of running a meth lab in a home located at 188 8th Street NW. 

The suspect's name is Joseph Witte, a 41 year old, white male, 150 lbs, 6 ft tall.  Witte is also wanted by Akron Police on similar charges. 

At 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, the meth lab exploded at the  8th Street home.  The blast shattered all the basement windows and police say that Witte fled the scene they arrived. 

Lt. Jamieson says that the Barberton Police have gone to the address several times in the past for reasons including theft, a warrant arrest, and a felonious assault which happened in March 2013. 

Police ask that anyone with information regarding the suspect's whereabouts to call (330) 848-6703.
