Romona's Kids Returns Thursday

Posted: Updated:

It's back by popular demand.

In 1990, while Anchor of Channel 43's Ten O'Clock News, I started my Romona's Kids segments showcasing good children making positive contributions in their school or community.  This segment has become an institution in Northeast Ohio.

It was born out of so much negative news about our children and my mission to inspire and encourage our youngsters and to showcase kids who are making a difference.

After 20 years there are an estimated 3,000 former Romona's Kids.

The subjects vary, and we travel all over from Avon to Cleveland, to Brecksville to Chesterland.

Our first story will take a look back and spotlight a 26-year old high school coach and former Romona's Kid.  He decided to "pay it forward" and is now working with our youth, teaching life lessons.

If you know a young person who's making a positive contribution in our community, you can send submissions to

Romona's Kids airs weeknights on Thursday at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
