CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Police are searching for the suspect after a man was shot inside a Northside barber shop Friday afternoon.

Officers reported the victim was inside Hair Options barber shop on Hamilton Avenue when the gunman walked in and started shooting just after 12 p.m.

District 5 Police Commander Captain Paul Neudigate says the shooting does not appear to be random.

"This gentleman was in a barber's chair either receiving a haircut or getting ready to get a haircut when our suspect walked in the door and specifically targeted this individual in the chair firing numerous shots with other people in the barber shop," he stated.

According to police, the victim was shot at least three times to the upper body. He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His identity has not yet been released.

The suspect was described as a young black male wearing a multi-colored checkered shirt. He is believed to have fled in a black Nissan Maxima heading north on Hamilton Avenue.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
