AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

Freshman Jeremy Johnson will make his college debut as Auburn University's starting quarterback during Saturday's homecoming game.

Coach Gus Malzahn made the announcement Friday evening on Twitter. Malzahn said Nick Marshall was not 100 percent after hurting his knee last weekend against Ole Miss.

Malzahn says he has a lot of confidence in Johnson and he is well prepared.

Johnson was the WSFA 12 News Fever Player of Year in 2012 when he played for Carver High School.

The Tigers arrived in downtown Montgomery Friday afternoon.

Saturday's game against Western Carolina will kick off at 1 p.m. and is available on pay-per-view.
