LOCKLAND, OH (FOX19) -

The Lockland High School's varsity football coach has been charged after he allegedly sold some of the equipment on eBay.

Tyronne Copeland, 44, of Golf Manor, is accused of selling several pairs of new football knee pads and thigh pads belonging to the Lockland School District.

According to court documents, the equipment was still in the packaging meant for use during the season. It sold for hundreds of dollars.

Lockland Police notified the school district last week, and Copeland was placed on unpaid administrative leave.

He's not allowed to have contact with players or students during the investigation. A meeting was held with football players Wednesday afternoon to discuss the matter and prepare for Friday's Senior Night game.

Copeland has been charged with one count of theft in office. He appeared in court Wednesday for arraignment and was released on his own recognizance.

The case will go to a grand jury on November 6.
