Bynum still not cleared to return

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum may be back soon, but it likely won't be soon enough to be on the court for the season opener on Wednesday night.

"I'm not even speculating until the doctors say he can play", Cavs head coach Mike Brown said on Sunday, three days before the team opens the season against the Brooklyn Nets at Quicken Loans Arena.

"When they (doctors) say he can play, I'll make a decision on whether to play him, but the doctors haven't cleared him."

Brown said Bynum has been participating in 5-on-5 drills in practice for the past 7-10 days, but still hasn't completed a full practice.

Bynum, who missed all of last season while with the Philadelphia 76'ers, and who underwent surgery on both knees in March, hasn't played in a game since May of 2012.
