CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

New York Jets receiver Josh Cribbs, the best kick returner in Browns history, and one of the most popular players in team history, took a shot at his former team on Sunday following the Jets' 49-9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

In an interview with Newsday, Cribbs said the loss wouldn't lead to the downward spirals he experienced in eight seasons in Cleveland.

"We're not the Browns. We're not the team that gives up. We have fight in this team. They're a motivated bunch of young guys. I'm just happy to be here and be able to contribute . . . Love it here."

"The GM [John Idzik] takes that to the heart. Like Braylon Edwards. He could've played here, but they said 'he didn't play like a Jet. Get him out of here. So last week [against the Patriots] proved to me that this is not the Browns. If we were, we would've lost those games."

Browns fans responded angrily via Twitter on Monday night, leading Cribbs to tweet that he was misquoted.
