PIKE CO., IN (WFIE) -

Indiana State Police say a man has been arrested for murder in an overnight shooting in Pike County.

It happened around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday at 104 South Bluff Street in Winslow.

Dispatch received a 911 call about a domestic disturbance with shots fired at the residence.

Officers from Winslow, Petersburg, Indiana State Police and Pike County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene.

When police entered the home, they say they found 32-year-old Christopher Morton in the kitchen holding a handgun in one hand and a beer can in the other.

State police say a trooper deployed his Taser when Morton refused to drop his weapon.

Morton was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers say they continued their search and found 24-year-old Kelsie McDonald in the living room, who was shot and was unconscious.

Officers immediately initiated CPR and emergency medical personnel were notified.

McDonald was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  State police say an autopsy revealed that McDonald died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Morton was arrested for murder and taken to the Pike County Jail where he is currently being held without bond.

Morton and McDonald's three-year-old daughter was also inside the residence. She was not hurt and is now with family.

The investigation continues.
