New redevelopment plan for Henderson's East End presented

Posted: Updated:

Henderson residents have learned of a new redevelopment plan for the city's east side.

Planning officials presented a sustainability plan they say will revitalize and grow an area needing development. If approved, the plan would relax the current zoning requirements and allow for businesses and apartments to be located in the same building.

"It allows for mixed use, kind of what you think of in the past, especially in the bigger cities where you have the shops on the shops on the first floor and people live in the apartments on the floors above it. That's going to be allowed in these districts," said Curt Freese with Henderson Planning Commission.

Officials say this plan would not affect taxes. It now goes to the Henderson City Commission for approval.
