LUCAS COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

When Darby was first found, she was extremely emaciated. Now thanks to the Lucas County Pit Crew, the puppy is healthy and ready for her new home.

Just weeks ago, Darby was 10 pounds underweight, had an infection and was extremely dehydrated. Now, she is healthy and full of energy.

About $400 was donated for Darby, which covered the majority of her $600 vet bill. Her foster mother Amy Roth says Darby is just another success story for the Lucas County Pit Crew.

"Darby had a rough start to life," Roth said. "Probably the first eight weeks of her life were not very happy. She wasn't well taken care of, she hadn't received any vet care, and since she came into the Pit Crew, she is up to date on her vaccines, she's healthy, she's happy. She is a normal little puppy. This is what rescue work is all about."
