LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Mayor Greg Fisher asked the city of Louisville for 45,000 ideas and the community responded by giving him 80,000 suggestions.

Tuesday, Mayor Fischer announced the launch of the final phase of Vision Louisville.

Programs already in place due to the program include the expansion of bike lanes and bike boxes and pursuing a gigabit fiber internet for the city.

Mary Ellen Wiederwohl, the deputy chief of staff said of the program, "Vision Louisville is a creative initiative to inspire big ideas about reimagining our city's future. It's about rejecting the status quo, thinking bigger, and being transformative. It's about accelerating our growth into the future through the investments we can make in our built environment."

Some of the ideas community members submitted for Vision Louisville included building a swimming lake in the Portland neighborhood, putting ziplines over the Ohio River and creating a tree canopy, which is already in the works through several tree planting projects around the city.
