Cleveland Police investigate deadly shooting near RTA station

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police are investigating the deadly shooting that happened near the West Park RTA Rapid Monday at 7:50 p.m.

A 28-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to the chest.  He was transported to Fairview Hospital, where he died from his injuries. 

The preliminary investigation shows the victim and another man were approached by three men in the 14500 block of Lorain Ave.

The three suspects attempted to rob the victim and friend.  The victim attempted to flee the scene when he was shot by one of the suspects. 

After the victim was shot, the three men took possessions from the victim and fled the scene on foot. 

The official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information in this incident to contact the Homicide Unit at 216-623-5464.
