AVON, OH (WOIO) -

The wife of the North Ridgeville police chief was sentenced for shoplifting.

Elaine Freeman was given a $250 fine and a 10 day jail sentence. Freeman started serving the sentence on Tuesday.

Once released, she will then be on house arrest for 30 days.

Freeman was arrested in September for stealing from the Kohl's store in Avon.

She was also arrested in November of 2012 for stealing from the Avon Target. She was fined for that crime.

The couple's young son was with Freeman during both shoplifting offenses.
