Search continues for missing hiker near Sedona

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities planned to continue searching for a hiker missing for more than a week in northern Arizona.

Coconino County sheriff's officials say 22-year-old Thomas Lang was last seen Dec. 18 at the Manzanita Campground in Oak Creek Canyon north of Sedona.

Lang was carrying a sleeping bag, guitar and a backpack but didn't take a cellphone or food. His family says he had plenty of water and is an experienced outdoorsman.

The search effort would enter its fourth day Thursday as temperatures have dropped into the 30s overnight.

Authorities say Lang was dropped off at the campground around 11 a.m. His route was supposed to be along the Sterling Pass area of Oak Creek Canyon.

When he didn't return by mid-morning Dec. 22, his family reported him missing.
