Mack wants to return

Posted: Updated:

Berea, OH (WOIO) - Alex Mack has given his all to the Cleveland Browns. He's played through pain. He's played through appendicitis. He hasn't missed a snap in 79 career starts. And most of all, he's endured years of losing. So as he heads into the off season, ready to hit the free agent market, some wonder why he'd want to come back.

"Cleveland's a very easy place to come back to", Mack said on Friday, two days before the season finale in Pittsburgh. "I like the coach, I like the players, I have a house here, so without a doubt it'd be very easy to come back."

Mack has said he'll give the Browns the chance to match any offer he receives from another club, if it gets to that point. The Browns can prevent that situation by re-signing him prior to March 11, when the market opens. If they don't, Mack will surely draw great interest from many teams, some with far better track records than the Browns.

"There's no guarantees anywhere", Mack said. "look at the Chiefs this last year...they had a rough season last year, and this year they're first or second in their division going to the playoffs. Things can turn around quick."

There's a far better chance of that happening in Cleveland if the Browns hold on to Mack.
