AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

On Thursday two men died and another one was rescued along a stretch of highway in Winterhaven, Florida after the car they were in flipped and landed in a pond.

One of the victims was 23-year-old TJ Bowden.

TJ was the son of University of Akron Assistant Football Coach Jeff Bowden who released this statement:

"My entire family and I are mourning the loss of our son.  I can't express the grief I feel right now.  Please keep us in your prayers."

A trash collector noticed the submerged vehicle just before 8 a.m. on Thursday morning.

TJ's uncle, Akron Head Football Coach Terry Bowden says "We are thankful to everyone who has already sent their love, support and prayers during this time of great loss and sadness for our family.  TJ will forever be in our hearts."

TJ's grandfather former Florida State Head Football Coach Bobby Bowden says "Our whole family had just celebrated Christmas together in Panama City, as well as celebrated TJ's graduation from Florida State just three weeks ago. We will cherish those last memories together with TJ forever."

TJ's death comes after Monday's car accident in Mississippi that killed Akron Assistant Football Coach Alan Arrington.
