Cavs suspend Andrew Bynum

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cleveland Cavaliers have suspended center Andrew Bynum for conduct detrimental to the team, according to a press release. The USA Today reports that the team felt Bynum was becoming a negative influence on the young players. The team is reportedly trying to trade Bynum.

The oft injured center signed a low-risk contract for the Cavs in the offseason. He was getting paid a guaranteed $6-million and could make more in incentives. There was also a team option for a second season.

Bynum has averaged more than eight points and five rebounds a game.

Bynum did not travel with the team to Boston last night for its game against the Celtics, and he has been excused from all team activities indefinitely.
