CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Are you ready for a Times Square style countdown to 2014 on Cleveland's Public Square?

New Year of the Millennium was the last time the city hosted a New Year's event like this. Fast forward 14 years, and Cleveland Rocks New Year's Eve, put on by the Ohio Homecoming Group is hoping to draw a crowd of around 20,000 people downtown.

The dynamic, festival-like event is free and will include food trucks, a beer garden, live ice sculpting and fireworks. The party starts at 8 p.m.!

The event will be broadcast live on 19 Action News in a 2.5 hour special beginning at 10 p.m.

Parking will be at a premium, but RTA is running the red, blue, and green lines all day. Tower City will close at 5 p.m. except for the RTA.

Off-duty police will be on-hand for safety and the city will have extra patrols on foot and by horse. Security will be tight getting into the venue. Bags of any kind will not be permitted in Public Square. [View complete list of banned items HERE]
