PARMA, OH (WOIO) -

Hard to believe that in 2013 animal cruelty is alive and well in north east Ohio but somebody cut off a one year old boxer's tail over the weekend and he was left out in the cold.

He ended up on a friendly stranger's front porch Sunday morning and they got a hold of Debra Bartowick and the Able Animal Hospital in Parma.

The dog's tail isn't the only problem.

"He has round worm.  An ear-infection.  He has a hernia. He has frost bitten ears," says Debra.

Able Animal Hospital and Debbie with help from the Animal Rescue Group Forever Friends are nursing the dog back to health.

He is also getting a lot of hugs from his new buddy... Debbie's 9-year-old daughter Tabitha who's a huge animal lover and has decided to name him Max.

It's not been an easy road... Max is scheduled to have surgery to repair his tail.   Somebody severed it at the joint and now his tail tissue is dying.

Why would somebody do this to the poor little dog.  It's just mean.  It's just mean.  I just don't like it when people do that," says Tabitha.

If you know who abused Max... call the police.  Nobody should get away with abusing animals.

Want to adopt Max please call Forever Friends Foundation at 216-453-2670.
