University Hospitals: Patient dies after being treated for hypothermia

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A University Hospitals doctor says one patient has died after being treated for hypothermia. The victim came into the hospital on Monday.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner now has to determine the cause of death.

University Hospitals also tells 19 Action News they treated a second person for hypothermia, but that person survived.

The Clinic has had no hypothermia patients, but one person was treated for frostbite on Monday. Metro has had no hypothermia patients, but treated one person for frostbite.

Hypothermia sets in when your body temperatures dips dangerous low. It is usually triggered by a lengthy exposure to the cold. [Learn more about Hypothermia HERE]
