East Lansing, MI (WOIO) - It was a battle of two Top 5 teams, and down the stretch in the second half it lived up to its' billing, as the third-ranked Buckeyes rallied from 17 down with 7 minutes remaining to stun Michigan State and force overtime, before the fifth-ranked Spartans survived, 72-68.
Ohio State went on a 20-3 run to close regulation, with Amir Williams slamming home the tying bucket on a putback of an Aaron Craft miss to force the OT. Shannon Scott had a chance to win it at the buzzer with a steal and final-second drive, but missed the layup.
Sam Thompson led the Buckeyes with 18 points, while Keith Appling threw down a game-high 20 for the Spartans.
