McDaniels to Browns: "Thanks, but no thanks"

Posted: Updated:

Berea, OH (WOIO) - Josh McDaniels, considered the frontrunner for the Browns head coaching job, turned the team down on Wednesday, taking his name out of consideration, according to multiple reports.

McDaniels, a Barberton native and John Carroll graduate, will remain offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots, partly because he wants stability for his family, those close to the situation said.

The former Denver Broncos head coach met with the Browns on Saturday for seven hours, and appeared to be the leading candidate, thanks in part to his relationship with Browns general manager Mike Lombardi, so this news stunned many, but 19 Action News reported on Monday that some in Boston felt he wasn't sold on the Browns.
