CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

In the midst of winter in Cleveland, who would go without pants? Apparently, cool people.

Global No Pants Subway Ride, created by New York's Improv Everywhere, returns to Cleveland Saturday, Jan. 11.

Cleveland doesn't have a subway, but there's RTA.

Riders show up fully clothed at 1 p.m. outside West 25th Street Rapid Station, lacking pants.

The idea behind No Pants is simple: Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants. The participants do not behave as if they know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. The only unusual thing is their lack of pants.

Participants in the past have donned boxers, briefs, shorts, even kilts.

The event originated in New York City 13 years ago.  Cleveland has been participating since 2010.

Saturday's event is free, but riders must pay their own fare ($5 for an all-day RTA pass), and are asked to remember that this is a family-friendly event.
