AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Akron Police got a little help diffusing what could have been a violent situation through social media.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night, officers responded to the 300 block of North Firestone Boulevard for a domestic altercation.

When police arrived the female met officers outside of the house. She told them her boyfriend, Vincente Castellano Jr., 39, was drunk and was arguing with her before he grabbed a gun and fired a shot into the bedroom floor.

Four children were inside of the house as well.

SWAT was called out and negotiators were able to talk to the children using a cell phone and their Facebook accounts.

Once the kids got out of the house negotiators were able to convince Castellano Jr. to come out too.

He was charged with domestic violence, aggravated menacing and using a weapon while intoxicated and booked into the Summit County Jail.
