Bedford official pleads not guilty to corruption related charges

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A Bedford City leader was in court on corruption related charges Thursday.

Bedford Law Director and City Prosecutor Kenneth Schuman pleaded not guilty to bribery, unlawful interest in a public contract, money laundering, theft in office, obstructing justice, falsification, receiving improper compensation and soliciting.

Schuman's bond was set at $5,000. 

Bedford Municipal Judge Harry J. Jacob III also faces charges, and has since pleaded not guilty.

Both men have taken leaves of absence from their public positions.
