Drivers dodging potholes as city workers get busy with repairs

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

The recent polar vortex followed by warm temperatures and rain -- has caused a bunch of potholes to pop up around town.

These potholes have become even more visible now that the snow is melting.

The Mayfield Heights pothole patrol is not wasting any time getting to work on Mayfield Road -filling and pounding down the already emerging potholes, before they get even bigger.

"It will breakdown and it just gets worse and it can do some serious damage to a car and all that so we try to fix it so it," said Anthony Fatica, Mayfield Hts. Service Department.

Mayfield Tire and Wheel Center is already seeing three-to-four damaged tires a week. There's multiple blown tires and the number one problem is the people who need alignments after they clang down on one of those rim rattlers.

"30% of the business is from wheels damaged, alignments, chuckholes, people hitting curbs and sliding off the road," said Tim Retzner, Mayfield Tire and Wheel.
