Seattle, New England, advance in NFL Playoffs

Posted: Updated:

The Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs opened Saturday with Seattle beating New Orleans 23-15.

The Seahawks jumped out to a 16-0 lead and appeared to be on the way to a blow out. The Saints did make it interesting though. Down 23-8 Marques Colston caught a touchdown pass with :34 left in the game. New Orleans then recovered the onside kick, but they could not get a game-tying score. Colston caught a pass near the sidelines with :07 showing on the clock, yet instead of stepping out of bounds for a final play, he threw a forward lateral. The play was flagged and the 10-second run off ended the game.

In the night cap, New England rode LeGarrette Blount to a 43-22 win over Indianapolis. Blount ran for 166 yards, a franchise playoff record, and four touchdowns. The Pats scored six touchdowns, all of them on the ground. Stevan Ridley cashed in on two scoring runs.
