MORNINGVIEW, KY (FOX19) -

Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday evening in Morning View, Kentucky.

Kenton County Police Officers responded to the 2000 block of Cruise Creek Road around 6 p.m. to check on the well-being of the resident and her estranged boyfriend.

When officers arrived on the scene and searched the home, they found 26-year-old Erin Nicole Cully and 28-year-old Jason Stephens dead from apparent gunshot wounds to the head.

According to authorities, the initial investigation indicated Stephens shot Cully with a handgun before turning the gun on himself.

Cully, a student at Gateway College, had two children who were not there at the time of the shooting. Police could not confirm if Stephens was the father of the kids.

Police also told FOX19 there was no restraining order made against Stephens.

The Kenton County Police Department's investigation into this crime remains open.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Detective Andrew Schierberg with the Kenton County Police Department at 859-392-1953.

FOX19's Miranda Del Pozo is live at Kenton County Police Department this morning with more information on what happened.
