Police: Attempted robbery suspect admits, 'I threatened the pizza guy'

LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) -

A Longview man is accused of squaring up to fight a pizza delivery driver and threatening to rob him, after inviting the Pizza Hut employee into his home.

Police were called to the Pizza Hut in Longview to investigate an attempted robbery complaint Saturday.

The employee told police he attempted to deliver a pizza to an apartment on the 900 block of Ninth Avenue. The customer invited the driver inside and, according to court documents, Michael Forslund, 61, then told the 36-year-old victim to put the pizza down.

At that point, the employee told police Forslund showed a fighting stance similar to a boxer, like he was squaring off for a fight. He moved his hands and fingers in an aggressive manner while "occasionally flipping him off," according to court documents.

Forslund is accused of stating he was going to "take your s---" and "rob" the delivery driver, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police said the Pizza Hut employee responded by saying he wasn't letting him take anything, but if he was, he had better "get to taking it."

Forslund responded with profanities, before telling the driver to get out, according to court documents. The driver left with the pizza.

Police said officers responded to Forslund's apartment and found him to be "highly intoxicated."

"Forslund made the unsolicited utterance of, 'the pizza guy called, didn't he?'" court documents state.

Forslund told police the pizza delivery driver didn't have change for a $50 and that the employee spit on his pizza. He then later admitted, "I threatened the pizza guy," and, "I'm guilty," according to court documents.

Forslund made his first court appearance Monday on the charge of attempted robbery. He is due back in court Jan. 21.
