High winds halt first phase of renovations at First Energy Stadium

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Inclement weather has canceled the first stage of renovations originally slated for Tuesday afternoon at Cleveland's First Energy Stadium.

Crews were to take apart the west end zone exterior, including the scoreboard.

It's part one of a two-year renovation to modernize the stadium, but there are a lot of questions over the hefty price tag of $120M.

Taxpayers are paying for nearly half the project.
