FBI catches suspect in serial bank robberies

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cleveland FBI apprehended a man believed to be responsible for a series of bank robberies in the Cleveland area.

Stephen D. Anthony of the Cleveland FBI announced the arrest of 39-year-old Eddie Jermaine Fletcher on Friday, January 17, 2014. 

Fletcher is suspected of committing the following bank robberies:

  • The First Merit Bank robbery at 9717 SR 14, Streetsboro, Ohio on January 10, 2013.
  • The Chase Bank robbery at 10414 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio on April 3, 2013.
  • The First Place Bank robbery at 2802 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio on September 9, 2013.
  • The Chase Bank robbery at 10414 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio on November 25, 2013.

During the four above-mentioned robberies, a "Remy the Stranger" model mask was worn.  Federal charges are anticipated for the other suspect(s) involved. 

The Cleveland FBI worked in conjunction with the Streetsboro Police Department during the investigation.

Details of Fletcher's hearing date are not available.
