Autopsy completed on missing Evansville man found dead

Posted: Updated:

An autopsy has been completed on the body of 77-year-old Ronald Hayes.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office says Hayes died as a result of suffering heart failure relating to hypothermia.

Hayes was the subject of a silver alert after he was last seen at Turoni's Pizza on Friday evening around 6:00.

Sheriff's deputies were able to locate a car matching the one Hayes was reportedly last seen driving, in a remote part of Knight Township river bottoms.

Investigators believe Hayes was able to walk over two miles away from the car.

His body was found in an open field on Sunday.
