Evansville Police surround house on east side

Posted: Updated:

Evansville police officers, detectives and crime scene investigators responded to a two-story home at the corner of Euclid and Sycamore Wednesday afternoon.

Police say it was welfare check for a man who has a history of mental illness. They say the man refused to come out of the home, so they surrounded the house. Neighbor tells us that police used a bullhorn to communicate with someone in the house to try to get them to come out.

Officials say the man eventually came outside and was taken to the hospital.

We're told nothing criminal was taking place.
