BARBERTON, OH (WOIO) -

A SWAT situation in Barberton ends after nearly eight hours.

Officers responded to 183 22nd St. NW at 3:15 p.m. to arrest Joseph E. Green Jr., 21, wanted by the Springfield Township Police for violation of a protection order.

Green was suspected of sending threatening text messages along with pictures of weapons to the person who filed the protection order.

Police saw Green in the home, but he would not answer the door or come out.

Barberton-Norton SWAT arrived and tried multiple times to get Green to come out on his own. Green's parents, who also live in the home, came out and told officers that he was inside hiding.

After attempts to contact him by phone and loudspeaker, the SWAT team entered the home and conducted a search with a chemical sweep.

He was found hiding in the attic and police say he was violently resisting arrest.

Green was taken to a local hospital to be treated for exposure to the chemical munitions. He will be facing more charges in addition to violation of a protection order.
