JENNINGS COUNTY, IN (FOX19) -

According to Trooper Randel Miller, yesterday afternoon at approximately 12:55 p.m., Jennings County Sheriff's dispatch received a 911 call about a man trespassing in the 300 block of Honey Locust Drive in Country Squire Lakes.

Some alert citizens observed suspicious activity in the neighborhood and called 911. The caller reported a strange vehicle parked in her neighbor's driveway and she also observed the doors were open to the trailer.

Inside, a man was discovered rummaging through drawers. When confronted the man claimed the trailer belonged to his mother who had just passed away. The caller knew this information to be false and called police.

The man attempted to leave the scene but his vehicle, a 1999 Buick had been blocked in by other neighbors. Tpr. Miller and Deputy Wes Thayer of the Jennings County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene just as the man managed to drive away but was stopped by police.

Tpr. Miller led his K-9 partner, Jinx on a walk around of the vehicle and Jinx alerted indicating the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of three syringes, a bottle of pills, and stolen gasoline.

When the victims arrived on scene, the name on the prescription pill bottle was that of the victim and he also identified the gas can as having been stolen from his property.

Based upon this information, 43-year-old Brian L. Bay of Columbus was placed under arrest on preliminary charges of Burglary (Class B Felony), Residential Entry (Class D Felony), Possession of a Syringe (Class D Felony), and Possession of a Legend Drug (Class D Felony).

Bay was transported to Jennings County Jail where he was held on $4,055 bond. Also assisting was Deputy Kevin Hall.
