(CNN) – In baseball, Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez has decided not to appeal his season-long doping suspension.
Friday, Rodriguez's attorneys withdrew his lawsuits against Major League Baseball, Commissioner Bud Selig and the players' union over the 162-game suspension, which is the harshest in baseball history.
Serving out the suspension will cost Rodriguez $25 million in salary.
Both the league and the players' union released statements supporting Rodriguez's choice to drop the appeal.
