Florists say cold temps won't affect Valentine's Day

No need to worry if the snow and cold will delay or even stop deliveries on Valentine's Day. Ken Wheeler of the 12th Street Florist puts a passenger in his delivery van that he calls a jumper.

"We can pull up to the door of a building and a jumper will run in," says Wheeler.

Like many area flower shops, the 12th Street Florist gets most of its flowers from South America and are not affected by the snow and cold. But as a precaution, if temperatures drop near or below freezing the flowers are wrapped by people like Lynne Metzger.

"That protects them from getting here to the van and from the van to their final destination," says Metzger.

So it seems like flowers will be delivered in Cleveland on Valentine's Day no matter what the weather, just like they were in the storm of 2007 which was called the Valentine's Day blizzard.
