LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville woman rented a $17,000 car in October and never returned it, according to Louisville Metro police.

Kelli Thompson, 40, rented a 2013 Nissan Altima from Dollar Thrifty Rental on October 18, 2013. Her arrest report states Thompson was supposed to make a payment on the vehicle within a few days or return it. She did neither.

Police said Thompson has ignored letters and phone calls demanding that she return the car. Attempts to locate Thompson and recover the vehicle were unsuccessful until Thompson's arrest on Monday.

Thompson is charged with felony theft by unlawful taking.
